Barely few hours after touring government departments, where he warned
Civil servants to take their job seriously and avoid unproductive work
behaviors, Gambia’s Secretary General and Head of the Civil Service
Habib Drammeh, has been fired with immediate effect, the Freedom
Newspaper can reveal. Mr. Drammeh received his marching orders today. He
has been replaced by Ebrima Camara, Permanent Secretary at the Foreign
Ministry.
No reason has been given for Mr. Drammeh’s removal. Drammeh briefly
served as Interior Minister and was later redeployed to the State House
to head Gambia’s Civil Service.
Mr. Drammeh taught President Adama Barrow while he was a student at the
Muslim High School. He was the former Director General of The Gambia
Tourism Authority
Mr. Drammeh’s successor Ebrima Camara served as Diplomat at The Gambian
Embassy in Brussels, Belgium. He was recalled to replace Njogu Bah, who
was sacked by the President
